The first in a sequence of courses that prepare individuals for careers in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. This course includes instruction in 2D or 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to draw a small residential home with an emphasis on blueprint reading.

CARPENTRY BLOCK  |  UVU CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT

CARPENTRY 1 & 2 - 3 CREDITS

SUGGESTED GRADES: 11-12
REQUIRED PREREQUISITES FOR THIS BLOCK:  STUDENTS MUST BE A JUNIOR OR A SENIOR AND PROVIDE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION TO THE JOB SITE.

In this two-course series, students will learn to lay out, fabricate, erect, install, & repair wooden structures and fixtures using hand and power tools.  Includes instruction in common systems of framing, construction materials, estimating, blueprint reading, concrete placing, siding, and mechanical systems.

CIVIL ENGINEERING & ARCHITECTURE

CIVIL ENGINEERING & ARCHITECTURE (PLTW) -  FULL YEAR - 1 CREDIT

SUGGESTED GRADES: 10-12
PREREQUISITES: NONE

Civil Engineering & Architecture is an introduction to important aspects of building, site design, and development. Students apply math, science, and standard engineering practices to design both residential and commercial projects and document their work using 3-D architecture design software.
