ALCs VERY OWN WONDER WOMAN

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Every school would be lost without the counselors at their school. This is true at the ALC as well.

Annette Pukahi is one of a kind. She is always trying to think of ways to make things better for the students by helping to ensure their school classes are the most beneficial to their future.

NOT A GROUNDHOG BUT A ROBOT

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

We may not have seen the famous groundhog today to give us clues of whether we're in for a long winter or not, BUT we did see a robot from the Robotics class wonder into the office to wish us a Happy Groundhog Day!!

Thank you to Mr. Rawlings Robotics class for the sweet "THANK YOU" .

HAPPY GROUNDHOGS DAY FROM THE ALC TO YOU!!

Punching Down Wire

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

You can see and learn just about anything while walking down the halls here at the ALC.

This happened on Tuesday while I was walking down the hall. I noticed many of Mr. Talbots class in the IDF room. (The Intermediate Distribution Frame where all of the networking equipment for the Peaks Center is housed)

Mr. Talbots Computer Repair class spent the day punching down category 6 wire in a patch panel as part of the Networking portion of the Class.  They used this opportunity to help them practice and understand how things in networking work.

So the old adage that "you learn something new every day" applied to me on Tuesday.

OUT OF THE MOUTH OF BABES

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

For the past three days, the student body at the ALC has shrunk in size... LITERALLY!

The halls were full of children ranging from 3-month twins to 4-year-olds, all going to attend Ms. Keetch's Human Development Class.

It was so fun to see all of the darling little kids and to watch the ALC students learn about how different and unique each stage in life is.  At one point, one of the children hopped up on the stool and had everyone's attention as he told them all about his life from a toddler's viewpoint.

They also played games with them and learned and sang some songs.

It is such a neat experience to be a part of this school and to see the many hands-on learning experiences that go on here on a daily basis.
