OFF IN THE CLOUDS

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

When you walk into room 162 here at the ALC, you will see many of the students off flying in the clouds.  It's not that they aren't paying attention, it's that they are all part of Mr. Halls Flight Simulator class.

Snow Day Update

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

February 6, 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Thank you for going the extra mile during inclement weather events. As a district of over 34,000 students and 4,500 employees, dealing with inclement weather is challenging, complex, and at times frustrating for everyone.

As you are aware, we had a “snow day” on Monday, February 3, 2020. The decision to cancel school was based on the hazardous weather of the morning, the forecast of a “super storm” for the rest of the day, extremely cold temperatures, and the slick conditions of the roads. We are aware that forecasts may not prove entirely accurate; but considering the conditions at the time, we decided that student and employee safety was our priority.

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Ms. Keetch Psych 1100, Human Development class, has been learning about the Developing Child in their class recently. This past week we were privileged to have a bunch of very cute, little people grace the halls of the ALC.

    • The students have been learning to explore child development, the biological and psychological changes that occur in children as they grow.

Students visit Adobe

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

This past week students from the ALC traveled to Adobe to have a tour.

The people at Adobe have been so accommodating to our students, and are always so good to the students once we get there. The employees volunteer to give up some of their lunchtimes to take our students on a tour of the huge facility that is located in Lehi, Utah.

The students get to ask questions and then they are shown a presentation and a tour of the building. It is always such a great learning experience for these students.

THANK YOU ADOBE FOR EMPOWERING OUR STUDENTS WITH KNOWLEDGE.

OUR AMAZING COUNSELOR-NATALIE GRANT

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Parents, administrators, and the general public often wonder just what it is that school counselors do on a daily basis. Gone are the days of school counselors sitting in their office simply handing out college applications, making schedule changes for students who want to drop a class or waiting for a crisis to occur. Today's school counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, career, and social/emotional development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.

Nebo School District Cancels School February 3, 2020

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Areas of Nebo School District have been affected by the recent storm.  Due to the extremely cold temperatures, hazardous driving conditions, and the expectation of continued snow, as of 6:15 a.m. the decision has been made to cancel school today, Monday, February 3, 2020.  We know this will be an inconvenience for many, but safety of students and employees is of utmost importance.

All extracurricular practices or activities planned for before or after school will also be cancelled.
