ALC KICKS OFF UCAW WEEK

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

This week we are kicking off UCAW Week (UTAH COLLEGE WEEK)

The front entryway is set up with information, swag, banners, and pennants from colleges around the area.

The counselor will be going into the English classes of all the seniors to help students apply for colleges. Teachers' doors are decorated with colleges they attended. Every day this week they are wearing apparel showcasing their college as well.

The goal of UCAW is to provide every high school senior at our partner schools the opportunity to complete at least one college or university application during the school day, with a particular focus on students who would be the first in their families to attend college, low-income students, or students who may not have otherwise considered applying.

UCAW is part of the American College Application Campaign, and the ACT Center for Equity in Learning (ACAC/ACT). ACAC/ACT is a national effort to increase college access through sharing ideas, developing best practices, and providing technical assistance for implementation of a college application event.

UCAW happens every October in high schools around the state.

So how do you apply?

Go to the Keys to Success website at  http://www.ktsutah.com

It will have a comprehensive UCAW how-to geared towards students. Directing students to this page will give students direct links to the applications of Utah colleges and universities as well as additional information on required documents, transcripts, financial aid, and scholarships.

It's best to apply for college as early as you can- October or November of your senior year in high school.

That way you get the best opportunities for early admission and scholarship funding.

GOOD LUCK.

What a fun time in your life.

HUGE SHOUT OUT TO MS. GRANT FOR ORGANIZING THIS WEEK FOR OUR STUDENTS!
