Submitted by shelley.heaton on

One of our ALC students, Daniel Tinoco, was selected to participate in the Pathmaker Program. We are so excited and proud of him. WAY TO GO TINOCO!!!

For those who would like to know what this is:

The PathMaker Program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) is in Salt Lake City. It is a wonderful paid summer research opportunity available to students interested in cancer research and careers in the health sciences. The program prepares students for careers in research, medicine, and academia by sponsoring them for 10-weeks during the summer where they will receive training and intense research experience in a university laboratory setting.

Eligible students are those that are underrepresented high school or undergraduate students who have completed their junior year of high school and are in good academic standing

Selected students will be paired with a research mentor in a cancer laboratory at HCI

Students will present their summer’s work at a poster presentation at the University of Utah’s Undergraduate Research Symposium

The summer 2018 program runs from May 29th-August 3rd

Students selected for the PathMaker program will go through a one-week intensive laboratory training course prior to being thrown into their respective labs as for many students this will be their first interaction with basic bench-work research techniques. PathMaker scholars will be provided on-campus housing and meal plan for the duration of the program at the University of Utah as well a $2600 stipend for their research.
