The Business & Marketing Capstone class were able to put their skills to work by participating in a multi-phase research project for UHIN, Utah Health Information Network.  After the research stage of the project, students were asked to participate as event staff for the 2019 HIT conference at the Viridian Center in West Jordan, Utah.  Students monitored in-conference mobile app discussion boards, provided video and audio support, manned a CAPS booth, and handled all aspects of guest relations.  Students were also able to hear from and engage with Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox.  The HIT Conference brought healthcare leaders, policymakers and decision-makers together to take charge of the social factors that determine our individual health.  Speakers included:

Kathy Buckley: Comedian & Disability ActivistSpencer Cox: Lieutenant Governor of Utah
Mikelle Moore: SVP, Chief Community Health Officer, Intermountain HealthcareWendy Sue Swanson: Director of Innovation, Seattle Children's HospitalDan Chavez: Executive Director, San Diego Health ConnectWill Leavitt: Project Director, SafeUT AppDavid Durocher: Director, The Other Side Academy The event was a huge success.  Students gained valuable insights into the behind the scenes production of large scale business events, as well as improving professional communication skills.  Mrs. Ewell's Business CAPS course has been invited back next year to once again provide event support because of the success this year.  Thank you to our amazing Business & Marketing CAPS students!
