CLEVER WAYS TO IMPRINT MEDICAL TERMS

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

The Medical terminology class students have a ton of medical terms that they need to memorize before the term is over. Ms. Grant always comes up with clever and unique ways to help the students not only learn these terms but imprint them in their brains by hand-eye techniques.

One of these ways is to use banana grams to spell the words out. By doing this they not only learn the spelling, but they see it, then remember it.

Brain scans showed that students who took a hands-on approach to learn had activation in sensory and motor-related parts of the brain when they later thought about concepts such as angular momentum and torque. Activation of these brain areas was associated with better quiz performance by college physics students who participated in the research.
