Harry Potter Lights On Event Family Night

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

This Monday, October 29th, The Advanced Learning Center, ( ALC), along with the Spanish
Fork Jr. High, Payson Jr. High, Diamond Fork Jr. High, and Riverview Elementary after-school coordinators will be hosting a Free Family Night Harry Potter Event in correlation with the Lights On Event held every year.

The event will be held at the ALC  161 E 400 N Salem, Utah from 6-8 pm. All school-aged children and their families are invited to come to help us celebrate the lights being on afterschool and to support these wonderful afterschool coordinators that put so much time and effort into giving your students great afterschool programs.

A little information on what the Lights on Event is and why it was created are as follows:

In America today, 11.3 million children are alone and unsupervised after school. Afterschool programs keep kids safe, help working families and inspire learning. They provide opportunities to help young people develop into successful adults.

Lights On Afterschool was launched in October 2000 with celebrations in 1,200 communities nationwide. The following year 3,600 events took place. Today, more than 8,000 Lights On Afterschool rallies are held annually,

Lights On Afterschool is a project of the Afterschool Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that all children have access to quality, affordable afterschool programs.

We look forward to seeing you all on Monday!

You are welcome to come as a muggle or dress up for Hogwarts!
