Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Khristen Massic, The Advanced Learning Center's Robotics and Engineering Teacher, was honored and awarded the " Teacher of Ther Year", last Wednesday.

We have always known what an amazing teacher she is and the students love being in her classes.

Here are just a few of the many qualities and attributes that make Khristen Massic the teacher she is.

Her TEACHING PHILOSOPHY is as follows:

Teaching shouldn’t be stagnant or repetitious--we should always be striving for ways to improve our students’ capacity for learning to prepare them for life.Teaching and learning should be engaging, creative, inspiring, and challenging to the students and the teacher. I enjoy teaching through creation, evaluation, and reiteration. The ability of a student to self-asses and give honest feedback about standards and progression outweighs grades/marks. I want my students to be successful in life--not just getting good grades in order to apply to higher education. Students need to learn early on how to assess their learning in order to maximize their own potential.

Khristen has 9 years experience teaching, with 5 of those years teaching here at the ALC.  Her

Educational History includes: Brigham Young University — Technology Teacher Education, BS

Brigham Young University — Technology, MS

also beginning in May,  Khristen is starting the program at  Brigham Young University — Educational Leadership & Foundations, MS.

WE ARE SO PROUD OF KHRISTEN MASSIC and so honored to have as part of our Faculty here at the ALC.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
