What is ALC?

ALC or Advanced Learning Center, is a new Early College & Technical Center serving the Nebo School District that allows students to take advanced classes while staying enrolled in their resident school.    The dual enrollment allows a student to be involved in extracurricular and athletic programs at their resident school.  The slogan, "21st Century College and Career Readiness" defines what the school is all about.  Students who take classes at ALC will be better prepared for college courses as well as better prepared to enter the workforce, having learned critical skills that are a must in an ever evolving global economy.

ALC will offer courses that follow the traditional A/B Block style schedule.  Students will enroll for a minimum of two periods at ALC, and take the remainder of their coursework at their resident school.  The two period minimum allows students to travel before school and during lunch time between ALC and their school.  We will be offering classes in the following areas of study during our initial year, Computer Maintenance, Computer Networks, Computer applications and programming, Pre-engineering, Pre-nursing, Medical Forensics, Television Production, & Building Construction.  We will also offer a Work Based Learning program that helps students find internships and apprenticeship opportunities.  Building on the success of the first year, we plan to introduce Business Academy's in marketing and entrepreneurship in 2013.
