Oh, Yah - Nailed it! Mr. Hawk's ALC construction class is helping construct a home near Salem Hills High School.

Students are helping lay concrete, tying rebar, framing, and maintaining the construction site.

Students will also install siding and help roof the house as the semester continues. It has been so fun to see the progress each day with it being so close to our school.

Mr. Hawks does an amazing job of teaching these students the necessary skills needed to build these houses.

Shout out to the students and Mr. Hawks for the amazing job they are doing.

BROKEN HEARTS AT THE ALC

Submitted by shelley.heaton on
Once again the Anatomy and Physiology class are doing some amazing things. They were breaking hearts, .....well they were actually dissecting hearts today.  It was the long awaited day to dissect pig hearts. What an experience for these students. They learned the ins and outs of the heart.  They found the valves, coronary arteries, and the chordae tendineae also known as our heartstrings.  Students found that if they hold the heart up that it actually does look like a valentine heart.  Huge Shout out to Ms. Hartvisen for giving them the opportunity to have this experience. And to Mr. Brian Blake for helping out with the instruction during this class.

Law Class Was Murder At The ALC!

Submitted by amy.ewell on

Mrs. Ewell's Business Law class participated in a giant game of Clue today at the ALC.  Students could be seen around the ALC writing down all the evidence and clues they could find.

Students in Business Law learn about everything from the origins of the law, criminal law and civil law throughout the semester.  As part of the criminal law section, and in preparation for an upcoming quiz, Mrs. Ewell has students and ALC faculty take on the role of a suspect or assailant in a murder.  Students must roam the building finding clues, identifying alibis and learning vocabulary terms to eventually accuse someone of murder.
