Nebo Credit Union “Warms the Soles” for Nebo Students

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

For twenty-one Christmases, Nebo Credit Union, with the help of local businesses and community members, has organized the “Warm the Soles,” a fundraiser to provide new shoes for students. Beginning in 1999 with only 25 pairs of shoes, the effort has grown to providing over 9,000 pairs of shoes in the last decade for students in 45 Nebo schools.

With planning beginning in January, teachers search for students in need, get their shoe size, and send the information to Nebo Credit Union. Nebo Credit Union employees, in turn, purchase the shoes right before Christmas. After the shoes have been wrapped, they are delivered to the appropriate school.

ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT DESIGN RAT TRAP CARS

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

If you have any pet rats that may need some transportation, look no further than Mr. Barlow's Engineering classes. His students were tasked with a project that produced many different options for any "Rats" that may be in the market for a car.

They were very specifically designed cars that had to meet many different requirements while the students were learning about the principles of mechanical advantage paired with kinematic equations. There are few projects better suited than the classic Mousetrap Cars. However, they upped the to level up with some more powerful equipment – RAT TRAPS!

The student's tasks were these:

ALC STUDENTS DRESS UP TO HONOR VETERANS

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

It was such a great sight to see the halls full of students that dressed up in respect for those who have fought for our freedoms.

Huge shout out to the youth for showing us how to show respect.  It was an amazing sight to see.

Below is ONE of the small groups that showed up today to honor and respect all of those who have sacrificed so much for us to enjoy the freedoms we have today.
