HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

WE WANT TO WISH YOU A HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL.

The school year is moving right along and mid-term is already here. It'll be so fun to watch not only the changing colors of the leaves but to see the students grow and change in their studies and friendships.

FROM EMR, TO ONLINE CLASSES, TO FIREFIGHTER

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

The ALC has many options offered in the building that many people may not be aware of. Not only do we have regular school classes taught by a face to face teacher, but we also have live interactive classes being streamlined from UVU, we have internship options where the students go to worksites and get hands-on experience in a field they would possibly love to do as a profession.

Another option for students that are housed here in our school, is Utah Students Connect online school. This program for Nebo is run by the Nebo Online Coordinator, Anna Palmer, and her assistant Marcie Ford. They do an amazing job keeping the students registered and do all the tracking needed to make sure the students succeed in the classes they are taking.

Acid River

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

You can always count on something exciting going on whenever you walk by Mr. Albright's Teacher Education classes. He did not disappoint this week.

He had his students do team-building exercises in class, like the Acid River, to help them realize that you can't accomplish any goal in a classroom setting without the help of others. Without the help of your team.

We all need help from those around us in order for each one of us to succeed. The students had a lot of fun working together as a team to accomplish the goal of getting across the bridge without losing anyone in the River of Acid.

Thank you, Mr. Albright, for always engaging your student's minds.

EMR BODY CARRY ASSESSMENTS

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Ms. Hartvigsen has been busy the past week in her Emergency Medical Responder Classes, (EMR) teaching the students the correct way to carry a person needing medical attention. The students first had to asses the victims, then figure out what would be the safest way to carry them to safety.

She taught them the many techniques needed for the different types of injuries. These included the ankle drag, the blanket drag, shoulder drag, firefighter carry, ect.

We are so lucky to have such awesome teachers here at the ALC.

Criminal Justice Has Guest Speaker

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Every year the Criminal Justice classes get the privilege of having Patrice Bolen, from the UVU Post Academy, come and talk to the students about programs and opportunities that are available.

She brings a little friend with her, a mannequin called Collin D. Cops.

It is always fun to see her wheeling Collin through the doors in his stroller.

WE WANT TO THANK PATRICE FOR TAKING TIME OUT OF YOUR BUSY SCHEDULE TO HELP EDUCATE OUR STUDENTS!

Another one of our new teachers to the ALC this 2019-2020 school year is Suzette Hartvigsen.
