ALC automotive students had the opportunity to travel to the world-famous Bonneville Salt Flats to experience the World of Speed event. They were invited to attend by the UVU transportation technology department who brought their own land speed car (Bombshell Betty) to race out on the salt. While at the salt flats students had the opportunity to interact with some of the racers and see some amazing race car builds, we had the opportunity to watch them race down the salt at over 215 mph as well.  while enjoying cool swag and hotdogs thanks to UVU.Bonneville Speedway is an area of the Bonneville Salt Flats northeast of Wendover, Utah, that is marked out for motorsports.

"World of Speed 2021 is one of the coolest speed-driven events in the U.S. and is one of the top Utah Salt Flat racing events. Held over four days in mid-September, World of Speed features some of the fastest racing of just about any vehicle on terra firma you can think of!

The great Bonneville Salt Flats provide some of the best conditions for setting land speed records. It was in 1896 that this area was first recognized as a perfect place for land speed trials. Since then, just about every land speed record has been set here." - TravelNevada.com

A HUGE thanks to our ALC NeboCAPs student, Chris Poole, who took these amazing photos at the event and to UVU for the invitation and lunch.  Watch for a video to come soon.
