WE LOVE OUR EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT STAFF

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Behind the scenes at every school, there are those people who just seems to make things run smoother.

They are the support staff that helps make us the school that we are today. They show up every day and get their jobs done, always with a smile.

We would like to say " THANK YOU" to the support staff we have here at the ALC and say that without you we wouldn't be the amazing school that we are! YOU ARE AMAZING!

NEBO CAPS NIGHT HUGE SUCCESS

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

The CAPS classes here at the ALC held a showcase night last Thursday night.  There were over 100 people in attendance. The students were able to showcase projects they have done, highlight the sponsors that have helped make projects possible, and thank the teachers who spend so much time helping them improve and learn through trial and error.

Thank you to our many sponsors, to the teachers teaching these CAPS programs, to Smith's for donating cookies, and to Ronda Hair for all of her efforts in this program.

HUGE SHOUT OUT TO THE STUDENTS . YOU ARE AMAZING!

ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY GET THEIR CRAFT ON

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

The Engineering and Technology classes have been busy making their projects the month of October.

It is always so interesting to walk into the class and see how creative and talented these students are.

Both Mr. Barlow's and Ms. Wilson's class did amazing things. We are all very impressed.

WAY TO GO ENGINEERING STUDENTS!

ALC ENGINEERING VISIT SPRINGVILLE JR. HIGH

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

This past week, one of our Engineering teachers, Mr. Barlow, along with our counselor, and secretary visited Springville Jr. High.

Their purpose was to tell and show the students just exactly what the students here at the ALC do, and what programs we offer at the ALC.

The 30 students attending had a hands-on demonstration from Mr. Barlow. The students loved the many things that Mr. Barlow brought with him to show them. And many expressed interest in being in the engineering classes here.

Thank you to Springville Jr. High for inviting us to come to showcase one of the many programs offered at the ALC.

If your school would like to schedule a program at the ACL to come and tell you about them feel free to cal the ALC at (801)-489-2833.

Teacher Education Classes Jump for Joy

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Mr. Albright's class is one that when you walk by, you are always bound to hear laughter and learning going on. Today was no exception.  Mr. Albright had his teacher education classes plan physical activities that would be beneficial to students they may teach. He has them do the activities together that they plan. It is always fun to see what is going on in that part of the school.

Hands-on learning is the way to go with these students.

Guest Speaker Victim's Advocate Criminal Justice

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

The criminal justice classes were honored to have a guest speaker come to their classes. The guest speaker was BreAnn Wilkes, a Victim Assistance Program Coordinator at Utah County Sheriff's Office.

BreAnn spoke to the students about the services the Utah County Victim Assistance Program provides families in breaking the cycle of violence and becoming independent and abuse-free. Victim Advocates help families access community resources, develop safety plans, and receive education and encouragement to make changes and move forward in their lives.

THANK YOU SO MUCH BREANN, FOR TAKING TIME OUT OF YOUR BUSY SCHEDULE TO MAKE OUR STUDENTS AWARE OF THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
