ACE Club Field Trip - Building The Future!

Submitted by amy.ewell on
The ALC ACE (Architecture, Construction and Engineering) club enjoyed an amazing field trip this week.

Our first stop was at the shipping container plaza in Springville. One of the projects the students will complete this year is building their own shipping container creation. The students discussed different possibilities for their own creations as they marveled at this unique plaza.

Our next stop was to visit the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind. The school offers amazing opportunities for local students. The detail and features of the school accommodate the needs of their students. Some of the predominant features include brightly colored walls, contrasting flooring with different materials, density and texture. The school was designed with the needs of the students in mind so that they could experience maximum success. The student playground may or may not have been a favorite of the ALC Student‘s and teacher!

The ACE Club is for students interested in design careers including architecture, construction, and engineering. This club will allow students to learn how to become creators and not just consumers.  The goals of ACE club are to:
  • Help build a large, diverse, and better-prepared workforce.
  • Assist and guide students by providing scholarships, internships, and mentoring as they pursue career pathways into the industry.
