ALC students Jaxson Belliston and Sterling Shoemaker were recognized Saturday evening by Salem Mayor Kurt Christensen for their roles in filming the Soarin' Salem drone video shown during Salem Days 2021. Jaxson and Sterling spent countless hours, including during the summer, filming breathtaking footage of Salem Utah from the top of Tower Mountain and throughout the city. The ALC drone also flew year round to capture highlights of local businesses, much to the delight of the Salem Days audience. (Watch Video Below)
ALC students in Mrs. Ewell's Business and Media Production CAPS course were tasked by Mayor Christensen to film and edit the video to reflect the uniqueness and diversity of Salem City. CAPS students, with the support of Mrs. Ewell and Ronda Hair, coordinated video shoots with local businesses, traveled up tower mountain in recreational vehicles and were mentored by local residents to create a moving representation of Salem City. Mrs. Ewell even donned the Salem Skyhawk costume on the Tower Mountain helipad and flapped her wings to help make the video a success!
Mayor Christensen called the ALC "A great resource for the Salem community" and thanked all involved for their support and participation. The NeboCAPS program at the ALC is always looking for ways to support their community members by working with local businesses to solve real world problems.
