Happy Secretaries Day (Administrative Assistant Day)

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

We have some amazing ladies that do the secretary responsibilities every day at the ALC.

Miranda Hjorth is one who holds the ALC together. She is literally the backbone of the school. Not only is she the main office secretary, but she is also the registrar, the counseling secretary, the finance secretary, and the personal secretary for all the teachers and the principal. WE LOVE MIRANDA!

Shelley Heaton is the attendance secretary, the PR rep, and the insurance rep as well. Shelley is always looking for something to decorate to make the ALC fun.

Marcie Ford is the Utah Students Connect secretary who keeps all the student's grades and schedules up to date. The Director, Anna Palmer would be lost without Marcie.

ALC STUDENT CREATES A POSTER FOR ROBOTICS TEAM

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

About three weeks ago Cameron Jolly was presented with an amazing opportunity to make a poster for the ALC robotics team featuring the sponsors of the event. The theme of the whole event was space. Given that rough outline for what they wanted in the background, Cameron went through a few iterations, finally landing on an art style heavily influenced by the game Astronomer the concept was born. The background of the poster was created in Blender, a 3D graphics design program.  When asked Cameron stated, " It was such a pleasure to work with them and to finally see the end result was one of the most rewarding experiences."

GREAT JOB CAMERON!!!

Last night, one of our amazing teachers was honored as one of the "Teacher of the Year" for Nebo School District for the year 2018-2019. Ms. Natalie Grant was the teacher that was honored.

Ms. Grant teaches the Health Science classes here at the ALC. She has been teaching at the ALC for 5 years.  Throughout those years, she has touched so many lives with her teaching and with her love for her students. Many of those students still keep in contact with Ms. Grant.  Natalie has played a huge roll in the growth and success of the ALC, and we are very lucky to have her as part of our ALC team.

Her letter of recommendation from a parent stated this,

Local Pilots tour the ALC Aviation Program

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

On Saturday morning, March 23, eight pilots from the local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 753 toured the Nebo School District Advanced Learning Center (ALC) Aviation Program. The EAA was originally started as an association of people building their own airplanes and has now grown into one of the two largest general aviation advocacy organizations in the United States.

The Utah County Chapter of the EAA is a very active organization and asked the ALC Aviation instructor Mark Halls to give a presentation about the high school aviation program at their last meeting. It was at this meeting that Mark invited the members to tour the ALC facility and aviation program with eight pilots showing up for a hands-on orientation to the program.
