TOWERS, TOWERS EVERY WHERE

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

This week Mrs. Ewell's Entrepreneurship students competed to build the tallest and most beautiful towers using random materials.  Each (uber-competitive) team was given exclusive control over certain materials that the other teams didn't have, like tape, scissors, popsicle sticks, and even rolls of Smarties. The goal was for teams to start sharing their resources and/or work together In building their towers to maximize the height of the towers for the entire community. These ALC students learned about doing business profitably and also doing it “the right way.”

In the real world, customers generally can choose not to do business with your company for any reason. Regulators can restrict or shut down your business if you don’t follow the rules. Doing business “the right way” matters.

After completing the activity of the towers, students better understood the importance of conducting business in an effort to create long-term value. The winning team members received class cash which was distributed based on the average tower height in the room.

WAY TO GO MS. EWELL FOR ALWAYS MAKING LEARNING REACH GREAT HEIGHTS!
