Utah County Victim Services Unit Visits ALC

The Criminal Justice classes were privileged to have a guest speaker this past week. It was a very informative experience for these students. It was eye-opening for those students to hear about the services and the programs that the Utah County Sheriff's Department has.

BreAnn Wilkes, Victim Advocate Program Coordinator at Utah County Sheriff's Office spoke to the criminal justice students at the Advanced Learning Center.  BreAnn, and other colleagues, spoke to the students about the services the Utah County Victim Assistance Program provides families in breaking the cycle of violence and becoming independent and abuse-free.
Victim Advocates help families access community resources, develop safety plans, and receive education and encouragement to make changes and move forward in their lives. Victim advocates also assist victims of violence as their case moves through the criminal justice process.

Thank you BreAnn, for taking the time to come and help our students discover one of the many different avenues of the Criminal Department sector.
