U of U Med School & Cadaver Lab

Submitted by anna.palmer on

Our ALC Pre-Med students traveled to the University of Utah Medical School and Cadaver Lab for a field trip. Students gloved up and went to work as medical students guided them through some human cadavers. They were able to handle organs and view the internal cavities of patients who donated their bodies for educational purposes. Then students went into the Medical School to see where students become MDs and surgeons. They topped off this great learning experience with lunch at City Creek.

Broken Hearts

Submitted by anna.palmer on

This week our WSU anatomy/physiology students put their knowledge to the test.  They were tasked to open and identify all of the chambers and valves of a pig heart.  They also located the major vessels and traced the path of blood from body to lungs and back to the heart again.  It was a great opportunity to experience the view of a
cardiologist.

Tito Momen speaks at ALC

Submitted by anna.palmer on

"Having problems...this is living. Don't let your problems become your prison," said Tito Momen as he spoke to ALC's Medical Forensics students this morning. We were very fortunate to have Mr. Momen as a guest today. This man was falsely imprisoned for 15 years and 15 days in the worst prison of Egypt. He taught about the justice system of Egypt so we could compare it to America's justice system. He also talked about how to get through hard times. What a great experience!
