John Lennon Educational Tour Bus At ALC

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus rolled into the Parking Lot of the ALC  bright and early at 6 am this morning.   The students and faculty here at the ALC were very excited to have the privelege of having the bus on our home turf.

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus presented by OWC is a non-profit outreach program established twenty-one years ago with the mission of giving youth a chance to express themselves through music, video and broadcast productions. It has been a living legacy to John Lennon's passion for musical expression and artistic freedom.

At a time when music education in the schools is facing togh funding challenges The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus has been a rolling testament to the enduring, positive power of music making.

The Glue that holds it together

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Anyone that has ever walked into a school, worked in a school, or been a parent of a student in a school... knows that the person who holds the school together...the main person, who keeps things in tact... Is THE SECRETARY.   The same holds true at our school.

Our secretary holds many titles. She is not only the main secretary, she is the registrar, the finance secretary, the bus scheduler, the fill in substitute when there are no subs coming, she is the Amazon orderer, the class scheduler, the last minute conference lunch orderer....  And the list goes on and on.

Miranda Hjorth does all the things and many more each day.  But the thing that makes her stand apart...is her constant smile and her willingness to help anyone, anytime.

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Last week the Medical Forensics class had the parking lot lined with paper and fake blood. They had their annual blood splatter lab .The purpose of this lab is to analyze the different methods that the Medical Forensics team use to solve a crime scene. The students learned that the way blood is splatered can actualy show the size of the wound, the volcity of the wound, and can tell you the angle of the weapon. It is a very infromative lab for these students. Thank you Ms. Grant for always having hands on activies for our students.
