"Having problems...this is living. Don't let your problems become your prison," said Tito Momen as he spoke to ALC's Medical Forensics students this morning. We were very fortunate to have Mr. Momen as a guest today. This man was falsely imprisoned for 15 years and 15 days in the worst prison of Egypt. He taught about the justice system of Egypt so we could compare it to America's justice system. He also talked about how to get through hard times. What a great experience!

Teams from nine states, Canada, and including ALC will participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah, on Friday and Saturday, March 14-15. Admission and parking is free. 

This type of Robotics is termed a "Varsity Sport for the Mind" and has all the excitement of a high school championship tournament. Winners go on to an International Championship competition in St. Louis for a chance to earn $19 million in scholarships.

Representatives from many state colleges and universities will be gathered at UVU on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. You and your family may attend presentations on the importance of college and how to prepare for and pay for college. 

The presentations will be held at UVU's Sorenson Student Center from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 19th. Representatives from the following institutions will be available to answer your questions:

ALC classes will not be held on Wednesday, February 26th. It is Nebo District's Teacher Development Day. Distance Learning classes will run as normal. "A" day classes will resume on Thursday, February 27th.

Teams of Forensics students raced to put together skeletal remains and reach their objectives. In addition to assembling the skeleton, each team had to identify and prove the gender and race.

The Pre-Engineering class has been investigating the civil engineering discipline. In addition to researching various careers and opportunities related to civil engineering, students completed a civil engineering-related project. This year's class was given various supplies and instructions for building a marble roller-coaster. Using knowledge from previous math and science classes, they were to build and calculate how fast their marble traveled and identify the kinetic, potential, and mechanical energy of their final designs.

Gaye Cook

Gaye Cook was born and raised in the quiet town of Fairview, Utah. She spent some of her growing up years in California. Gaye has been working for the Nebo School District for fifteen years and in her current position as Distance Learning Facilitator for thirteen years.

Today the ALC Health Science students prepared for their exam with a hands-on dissection of cow eyes.  Students were asked to identify all structures of the eye. This challenging university anatomy/physiology course is delivered by Weber State University.
