For this ALC student design project, the purpose was to enhance students' engineering design skills through computer-aided design (CAD) software. Students were challenged to fully design, model and create functioning electric desk lamps.
Students creativity exceeded expectations impressing not only their teacher Mr. Barlow, but also a visiting manufacturing engineering professor, Dr. Michael Miles, from Brigham Young University (BYU).
Students presented their designs to Dr. Miles on Thursday, March 6th, discussing their design inspirations, challenges they faced and reflected on what they might do differently if they could do it again. The project was a great success as students were not only to meet but far exceeded expectations!
After the presentation, Dr. Miles expressed his admiration for the level of professionalism and skill demonstrated by students here at the Advanced Learning Center, emphasizing that their skills put them ahead of even students at the college level. Excellent work, ALC Advanced CAD!
