The Santa Countdown Begins

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

If you want to know if you are on the "Naughty List" or the "Nice List", all you need to do is come to the ALC.

Santa is sitting in his office that is housed here making his list.

The students have been having a grand time, checking the list, and checking it twice, to make sure they are on the "NICE" list.  A few of us at the ALC may be in trouble because we have somehow managed to make it on the  "Naughty" List. (We will not name names, but they are aware of their status in Santa's eyes right now.)

Hopefully, before Christmas, they can get that changed so they do not receive coal in their stockings.

Top That Christmas Tree Competition

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

The ALC has a competition going on that has been very fun watching evolve. On each side of the school, there is a Christmas tree set up for the different classes located on that side to decorate as a team. The students were supposed to come up with decorations that either represented their class, or that was made as a result of something they could use in their class. It has been very fun to see the creativeness that the students have had.

The Custodians and sweepers even got involved and ended up with a very clever, and well thought out tree. Spearheaded by Jason Hanks, they came up with a real winner of what we've entitled the "Bucket tree". It has many clever decorations, especially the star they fashioned out of janitorial supplies.

ALC Tours Microsoft Building

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

The ALC students were able to go and tour the Microsoft building. The students were not able to tour the building, but see everyday workings going on, and ask questions.

It was a very informative field trip for these students.

Thank you to Microsoft for allowing these students this opportunity.

NEW TEACHER FEATURE

The ALC was excited to be able to offer an Architecture & Design class this year. We were even more excited to have the teacher attached to that class, joining the ALC faculty. The new teacher is Adriane Wilson

Adriane was born and raised in Orem, Utah. Attended Timpanogos High School. Then studied Earth and Space Science Education at Brigham Young University. Served an LDS mission in Slovenia. Later went to the University of Utah for a Master’s degree in architecture, and after which, became a licensed architect.

Creative Corsage

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

Creative ALC student Kieran Grant put in over time to create a one of a kind corsage for his prom date.

Kieran 3-D printed the corsage and then hand painted the details. His date was very impressed by his work.

Way to go Kieran.  Way to show us what can happen when you use you imagination and the resources here at the ALC.

Laser Engraver Pros

Submitted by shelley.heaton on

The ALC students love to work on the laser printers. A few of them are getting quite talented on it. It is so fun to see the projects the students come in to show us.

In this featured photo, JT Nebekar displays the phone case he created on the laser printer. Also pictured are Trenton Clement and Corey Mohn an ALC partner from Blue Valley CAPS.
